On Saturday, June 17th , The Kids’ Table hosted a food drive called Stuff
the Bus. We borrowed a school bus from Northville Public Schools –
many thanks to Mike Zopf, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and
Operations for NPS, and Miss Olivia, our wonderful bus driver.
Miss Olivia delivered the bus to the empty lot across 7 Mile from
Custard Time at 8:30 am and we started decorating. The bus got a face,
a banner and a tent decorated with balloons. And then the food
deliveries started. Our first drop off was at 8:45 am. Our last was
around 4:30 pm. And all totaled, we collected 1,500 lbs. of food. So,
yes, the bus was stuffed.
We then rode the bus, with Miss Olivia driving, to Northville Civic
Concern, where volunteers were waiting to offload the donated food.
Marlene Kunz and staff were delighted with the haul. This food drive
will help them feed families this summer. Summer is a rough time for
those in need and every bit helps.
Thank you to everyone who came out and brought food to our Stuff the
Bus food drive!
