Last summer, The Kids’ Table was proud to offer camperships to children and youth across Southeast Michigan — creating access to joyful, enriching summer experiences for families who may not otherwise have had the opportunity.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, we collaborated with Schoolcraft College, Northville Parks and Recreation, and the Northville Art House to provide camps in the arts, music, sports, and science. Children from Northville and surrounding communities were able to spend a week immersed in creativity, movement, discovery, and friendship.
For many of these campers, camp is an opportunity to build confidence while trying something new. It meant discovering a hidden talent for painting, scoring a first goal on the field, conducting a science experiment, or performing in front of peers. It meant forming friendships that lasted beyond the final day of camp.
For families, the camperships eased financial pressure while ensuring their children did not miss out on the kinds of experiences that help shape social, emotional, and academic growth. Summer learning loss can be real — but so can summer growth when children are given the chance to explore, create, and connect.
We are excited to continue this important work. This year, we are partnering with Maybury Farm, along with Northville Art House and Northville Parks and Recreation, to provide camperships once again. These organizations are working closely with area schools to identify children who would love to attend camp but may not have the resources to do so.
Our goal remains simple: remove barriers and create access. Every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of summer camp — the laughter, the learning, the friendships, and the memories that last a lifetime.
With continued community support, we look forward to helping even more children learn, grow, and thrive this summer.
