We are proud to share that we are now in year three of our partnership with First Step Domestic Violence Shelter, headquartered in Wayne, MI. First Step works to eliminate domestic and sexual violence while providing comprehensive services to individuals and families across Wayne County who are impacted by these crimes.
For three years, we have provided monthly funding dedicated specifically to fresh produce for clients living on site. Families are not simply given food — they are empowered to choose the fresh meat, dairy, and produce they would like to cook for themselves and their children each week. This choice ensures meals reflect their preferences, cultural traditions, and nutritional needs while supporting both physical health and emotional well-being during a time of transition and healing.
In addition to ongoing food support, we continue to provide each client with a personalized “kitchen pack” as they move off site and into their own homes. Clients select the items that best meet their needs, from cookware and utensils to basic kitchen essentials. These supplies move with them into permanent housing, equipping families with the tools they need to prepare healthy meals and establish stability in their new homes.
Our sustained commitment is made possible by the generosity of our supporters. Because of you, what began as a one-year promise has grown into a three-year investment in the health, dignity, and independence of families rebuilding their lives.
At The Kids’ Table, we believe every child deserves consistent access to nutritious food. Through direct funding, strong community partnerships, and continued donor support, we are working toward a future where no child in southeast Michigan goes hungry.
We invite you to consider a donation to The Kids’ Table to help us continue this vital work and strengthen families across our community. Together, we are providing nourishment, dignity, and hope.
